I am an author and freelance travel writer. Welcome to my website.

Please browse around and read some of my work. My travel and food pieces have appeared frequently in South Africa’s Sunday Times – a newspaper with more than 4 million readers, making it significantly bigger than the combined readership of the UK’s Sunday Times, Sunday Telegraph, Independent on Sunday and Observer – and I make occasional contributions to other South African publications including Getaway and AA Traveller, a number of travel guidebooks and websites. I also blog regularly about travel and about Africa in general (see MY BLOG above).

I have also worked with SANParks (South African National Parks) on their Wild magazine and blogged on their website and I currently write the occasional blog on the Portfolio Collection website.

My first book, Do NOT Take This Road to El-Karama, was published in 2008 but is out of print and therefore no longer in bookshops. You can however buy the digital version for your Kindle or iPad on Takealot here or on Amazon here.

In addition to my writing, I am a dedicated hotelier, a tourism and hospitality industry consultant, a keen quiz and cryptic crossword compiler and an amateur historian. As well as  reading the pieces I have written, you will find occasional details of recent and future travels on this website.
